SWINOMISH DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY The Swinomish Development Authority (SDA), the economic development branch of the Swinomish Indian Tribal Government, was created by Tribal ordinance in 1995. to insure the long term control and beneficial community return from the development of finite Reservation land resources, as the economic development branch of the tribal government and charged to oversee all phases of project development. The Swinomish Development Authority is comprised of the leadership from the Tribal governing body, the Swinomish Indian Senate. The Development Authority is organized with its separate bylaws and delegated the authority to plan and develop the properties located within the Economic Development District, reporting its progress to the Senate |

The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is federally recognized and operates under Constitution and Bylaws adopted in 1936 pursuant to the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934.
The Swinomish Tribe is committed to improving the lives and well being of the tribal members through social and cultural programs, education, economic development, and resource protection.
The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is located on Fidalgo Island (gateway to the San Juan Islands) in Skagit County of Washington State about 70 miles north of Seattle. The Planning Office is located across the Swinomish Channel from the town of LaConner.
